Subject: 1955 Alumni

Some time ago I set a moment three months in advance of our September

meeting as the practical outside limit of when I should report whatever

plans I may have for this year's reunion.  That seems to me to be when

discounts on air fares need to be appreciated, et cetera.   I am also at

a point where I can take stock of my personal budget, as we all must, for

this event.

Before that, I must thank each of you for your response, however

probationary, to my call for attendance.  In the course of running this

for just a few months, we have exchanged a great deal about our lives

over the last nearly fifty years.  Since writing is not how we had

originally communicated, I looked forward to our vis--vis encounter in

the Fall.  And I still do.  But I do have to say now that I will not be

able to actually participate in the physical planning for that.

When I started this, I had no idea that I would not be able to at least

duplicate my earnings from last year.  I was, I thought, in a business

where you can only get better.  Apparently I am in life where those

earnings will not come from an employer.  There were also some health

issues, which affected how I could do work.  So I am developing economic

alternatives, but all I have to give it is time.  Based on this year so

far, I am to report zero income to our government.  Considering the

problems other people have (or may wish they had), having no extra money

is hardly any at all, and I do not know that I won't be fixed by the time

we should have met.

The nutshell is that the farthest thing from my mind right now is just

where we will have our reunion, or even the menu for that.  I will leave

my alumni website up, and make it available for message routing to

whomever among the designated attendees cares to lead this.  The 1955

ClassMates page has gone into overflow, and I still do hope that we can

all be there.  If not this year, then I would try again in (Yes) 2005.

Subject: Earlier Reunion

Hello Joe:  Of course I was surprised to hear that you are unable to follow

through with your plans for an earlier reunion.  I hope that your health is

okay and that is not the reason.   Your picture looks fine, so most likely not.

I don't know what I can do to help you, I have told as many people from l955 as I could

that have not been on your website.  If you can think of anything, addresses, names, etc. let me know.

Till next time...Marie

6/28/01:  Per the preceding correspondence, and the continuing lack of interest in making site arrangiments for this September's tentative gathering, I am withdrawing  my announcement of it.  I have deactivated my signpost at Classmates and will as time permits remove all reference to Wells reunions from this site.  I will continue to document the interest in the gathering we nearly had, and to host resources of interest to the class of 1955 (and its friends).

I am encouraged that some of us will meet without any help from Chicago.  Whether in the course of our own personal migrations across the country, or eventually there in better times, I am content that those of us who mean to see each other will.  As I mentioned earlier (under economic circumstances that have not changed) my hospitality in Tampa is presently limited to lunch at the airport.  But you are certainly welcome to that: vous knows who vous is (Good News,1948).
